In the months leading up to the event the promenade saw countless thousands of local people running, as they trained to take part in this gruelling event. After the event took place, the common question on people’s lips as they chatted about the proceedings that had taken place was: “Will you be taking part next year?”
The Healthy Company was commissioned to take a fundamental role in the planning and event management. Our Medical Director Dr Tim Stevenson was appointed Race Medical Director, responsible for coordinating all of the medical services including, emergency service, on the day of the event. We also provided sponsorship for the event and hosted a venue for the medal awards ceremony which was compared by Olympic Athlete, Steve Ovett. Our healthy heart and logo were visible to all throughout the 26 miles of the course and on the starting and finishing gantries.
More than 10,000 runners took part and there was a party spirit everywhere with crowds of people cheering them on.
The next Brighton Marathon will be taking place on Sunday, 10th April 2011 and registration to take part is now full, although many charities are still recruiting runners to take part.
